Objectives of Water Efficiency Labelling
Up one levelIn considering the nature of the water efficiency labelling regime that New Zealand should adopt, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs has identified four primary objectives:
- Any water efficiency label should give consumers correct and adequate information in relation to water-using fixtures and products. This information must also be provided at the appropriate time and place, so consumers can weigh water efficiency into their decision-making.
- The labelling regime should be straight-forward for businesses to comply with and not impose any unjustifiable costs.
- The labelling regime must meet New Zealand's commitments under the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement (TTMRA).
- The regime must be suited to New Zealand conditions and reflect the environment in which New Zealanders are purchasing water-using fixtures and appliances.
