Fuel Quality Monitoring

Measurement

The Fuel Quality Monitoring (FQM) programme was established in 1989 to assess the quality of fuel available for sale to the public and to monitor compliance with these specifications. It employs a statistically-based sampling scheme to ensure that an acceptable likelihood of detecting non-compliance is maintained.

Investigations are carried out where fuel does not meet requirements. Unless there is a gross breach of noncompliance with the specifications, the focus is to ensure the underlying cause is remedied and to prevent any recurrence.

More information about fuel quality [external website] can be found on the Ministry of Economic Development website.
