The Measurement and Product Safety Service Newsletter, 'measureUP'
is
for Accredited Persons (APs).
This publication
was launched
to improve communication and give APs the opportunity to interact
with the Ministry over issues they feel appropriate.
The Ministry intends to use this publication to keep APs and
stakeholders informed of the latest issues within Legal Metrology as
well as providing clarification and information on more technical
matters.
Information for consumers
We have information for
consumers on measurement issues related to the purchase of coal,
firewood, garden supplies, pre-packed goods and roadside stalls.
The Measurement and Product Safety Service
The Measurement and Product Safety Service (MAPSS) works to make
sure traders are aware of, and obey the laws regarding weight and
measure. We administer and enforce the Weights and Measures Act.
We:
- carry out spot checks of weighing and measuring equipment
- check the weight of packaged goods
- investigate complaints from the public.
