Statement of Consultation Undertaken

In April 2002 a discussion paper on the proposed up grade of New Zealand's membership to full member status was distributed to 86 organisations. Comment was sought and 12 submissions were received. Submissions generally supported full membership of OIML with support greatest from organisations that exported goods or were part of the standards and conformance infrastructure. There was also a general support for a fee increase to recover some of the cost of full membership. However the size of the increase was not signalled at the time of the initial consultation.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Treasury were consulted and support this proposal.
