Yellow Pages bogus scam fax.

fax.jpgWe have received a number of reports of small businesses who have received a fax which is designed to look like it is from the Yellow Pages. It isn't. Giveaways that this is not genuinely from Yellow Pages include:

  • an upside down logo
  • the company name of "Yellow Page (not 'Pages') New Zealand"
  • a Manchester, UK, street address.

See the fax here.

The fine print reveals the cost to advertise in the "Yellow Page New Zealand" is $159 a month for two years payable in advance, and even if you cancel "payment is required for the agreement term."

Do not reply to this fax, bin it. This is fax directory scam where businesses are targeted to supply their details to legitimate-sounding business listing directories, then stung with huge charges hidden in the small print.

Yellow Pages say: “We are urging Yellow customers not to sign this contract or disclose their details.”

This is a type of small business scam.
