A further email scam relating to the Christchurch earthquake has emerged.
The email, claiming to be from the United Nations, says that you have been compensated US$450,000, of which US$15,000 will be paid daily via a money wire service.
This is an 'Upfront Money Transfer' scam where if you respond to the email, the scammers will tell you you need to wire money overseas to 'unlock' your 'compensation'. (For example, you need to pay a fee to cover administration charges or taxes or something similar.)
