Reporting a scam

Are you a New Zealand Resident?

Any New Zealand resident who wishes to can report a potential scam offer (of the type the Ministry assesses for listing on Scamwatch).

We regret we are unable to accept reports of overseas scams from consumers living outside New Zealand. We suggest that overseas consumers notify their local or state consumer protection agency instead.

What kind of scam is assessed ?

We assess the following types of schemes for Scamwatch.

  • prize and lottery schemes
  • astrology and other fortune-telling type schemes
  • certain versions of the Advanced Fee Fraud ("Nigerian Letter")

We may use your report to keep this site up to date and warn others.

We regret we are unable to reply to reports for scams already on Scamwatch.
